Tuesday, October 3. 2006Upgrade coming
We will be moving to Serendipity 1.0.1 tonight. I have backed up the database and configuration, but you may want to make sure and get anything that really matters to you.
Friday, September 8. 2006NOT AGAIN!
jubilee, our bloghost, has a disk drive that is failing. I'm here to gauge the interest of this group in chipping in for another drive for that machine, rather than moving our blog to thirdparty hosting. What say thee?
[Ed: Radar had an excellent question: How much is it going to cost? If you guys want to pitch in, I would ask you to say how much you thought you could do; at somewhere between $5 and $30 each, depending on how many will help, we can get a fairly good sized hard drive. ] Thursday, August 24. 2006Monday, August 7. 2006On the plus side...
I was able to add a nice extensions that shows when the next D&D time(s) are, and whose turn it will be. You'll find it on the right, directly below the calendar.
Monday, August 7. 2006Welcome to Serendipty 1.0
Had to fix a bug in the RSS generator, easiest solution was to upgrade us to 1.0.
As always, let me know right away if you see any problems. Monday, March 27. 2006Yes, we were down...
We lost a disk today on jubilee (our database/web server). I had one last spare disk in there, and recovered the last dump file I could find on short notice: 01 JAN 2006.
Sorry. I'll look more when I get home. Monday, November 21. 2005

It's that time again!
Serendipity has been upgraded to 0.9, and PostgreSQL to 8.1. I've been testing this on the side for a few days and haven't seen any problems, but that doesn't mean there isn't something I may have missed! Please let me know if you see anything wrong. Monday, October 3. 2005s9y Upgraded
I just completed an upgrade of our s9y installation to fix a session fixation issue (see this page for the dirt). I don't expect any problems with the upgrade, but did make a backup copy of both the s9y install and the db before doing it, so please let me know right away if you see any errors, and we'll roll back until I can fix it.
Saturday, August 20. 2005Multiple posts
Sorry about the multiple copies of the same story. I was playing with the formatting, and for some reason it posted each one as a different post.
Friday, August 5. 2005So Umm....
Weren't we promised an update to the Comic for this week?
Friday, August 5. 2005Never A More Beautiful Creature
Well it's a bit slow today, so I figured I'd post this. This is mainly for Radar and Mad Giggler, but you all can enjoy it as well.
Tuesday, July 19. 2005Well...
Maybe not the only thing ;)
Tuesday, July 19. 2005!@#$ you, J. K. Rowling!
So, I can't possibly be the only one who's noticed how terribly dull it's gotten around here ever since THBP came out...is that REALLY all you guys are thinking about these days?
Thursday, June 30. 2005Sgt. Muffin
Regardless of what the Ancient of Days thinks, people can't be giving themselves nicknames. It just isn't done. We only let TML use his own self-created "Ancient of Days" because I never thought "Mother" was a very good fit, "Sneakers" aside. And I think more people know him as TML than Joey.
So these two muffins are baking in the oven. One says to the other, "Wow, we're expanding." The second muffin replies, "Eek! A talking muffin!" After hearing that joke, I prematurely bestowed the name "Muffin" on our lovely kender. Please, people, we need something better. Ok, person who still lacks a usable pen name/nickname. You now have an account on the Homestarmy. Your username is rose, you'll have to call me for your password. Tuesday, June 21. 2005Dreadfully sorryEveryone: I made a mistake. After an upgrade a month or two ago, I never set the pgsql database on joeysmith.com/thehomestarmy.com to backup because it wasn't being used for anything for such a long time. Over the weekend, there was a catastrophic drive failure on that box. I had a spare drive in the box, so I was able to get it back up and running, but I did lost the pgsql database. Which means I lost all the articles and the s9y configuration.
