The Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday that the big 5 studios have cancelled many of the contracts of striking writers, "conceding that the current television season cannot be salvaged".
As January is usually the time that writers begin to plot the next season of current shows as well as pitch new pilots, next season is starting to be put at risk. Perhaps the most damning piece of information is the last sentence, slipping in like a shadow to announce: No new talks have been scheduled. Friday, November 2. 2007The good and the bad.
First, the good news of Whedon returning back to TV.
But before that can happen, enjoy your scripted shows now while you can, because an impending writer's strike could mean more reruns, and reality crap in the near future. Update The writers strike has been called and you can get a list of names and shows of some of the first to commit to it. Saturday, October 20. 2007An Office link
A moderately humorous website. You might enjoy it.
Friday, September 28. 2007Since we're on the subject of t.v.
With both Veronica Mars, and Drive failing to come back this season, Drive not even making to the 5th episode, my new "doomed tv show that will be cancelled soon that you really should be watching" is Friday Night Lights.
Many, including the Sports Guy have been raving about this show recently, and they're actually right. And worry not football-phobes (Which, just means there is something wrong with you anyways) it really isn't all about football. There some good character development, and as Sports Guy said Coach Taylor and his family are one of the best portrayed families in tv. Tuesday, September 25. 2007Jayne is back
So I was watching the new show Chuck tonight and I was pleased to learn that an old friend was in the episode: Adam Baldwin. He is of course not related to any of the Baldwin brothers, which gives me hope that he is actually normal. Anyway, he plays a gun happy, inadvertantly funny, NSA agent who all to willing to kill should the need arise.
I know some people prize actors for their ability to span many different roles, but I think there is some beauty in an actor who decides to play to his strengths. Thursday, September 20. 2007

but don't screw me...
"Under the new NBC service, called NBC Direct, consumers will be able to download, for no fee, NBC programs like "Heroes," "The Office" and "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on the night that they are broadcast and keep them for seven days. They would also be able to subscribe to shows, guaranteeing delivery each week. But the files, which would be downloaded overnight to home computers, would contain commercials that viewers would not be able to skip through. And the file would not be transferable to a disk or to another computer. " NBC to Offer Downloads of Its Shows, from the NY Times. Thursday, August 2. 2007Some Cool "Heroes" Info
Can be found here , including some details about the new show "Heroes: Origins".
As always, if you're an "Anti-spoiler" nutjob, and haven't actually watched all of season one, probably not a great idea to read stuff on the internet related to the topic. However, I thought the best piece of information was the very last sentence: "Season two of "Heroes" premiers on September 24th." Thursday, May 24. 2007

I was looking over what's coming on TV next year...this year we lost Studio 60, Drive, Kidnapped, and Six Degrees, all shows I felt had strong potential. In their place, here are some of the gems being delivered to us:
Lipstick Jungle: Sex and the City redux. Dramedy about three friends, successful in their careers, who are there for each other...goodie for them. Cavemen: Inspired by the Geico commercials, it's about three cavemen friends who are trying to lead normal lives in Atlanta, despite prejudice. No, you aren't having a nightmare, and no, I'm not making it up. This is real stuff here, boys and girls. Sam I Am: Christina Applegate (Kelly Bundy from "Married With Children") stars as an amnesiac who is learning that no one liked her. Carpoolers: Four guys, carpooling. Hilarity ensues, one would presume...because there's nothing funnier than guys in a car, right? Miss/Guided: A guidance counselor gets a job at her former high school, only to find her old enemy, a cheerleader, is now the English teacher. The Big Bang Theory: A hot girl moves in next door to a pair of physics geeks. Hilarity ensues, one would presume...because there's nothing funnier than guys living next to a hot girl, right? Back to You: Kelsey Grammer (X-Men's "Beast", Dr. Frasier Crane) as a news-anchor. I'll probably give this one a try just because it's Kelsey, but I don't have particularly high hopes for it. The Return of Jezebel James: Two women I've never heard of play sisters. One of the sisters is acting as a surrogate mother for the other. Hilarity ensues, one would presume...because there's nothing funnier than pregnancy, right? Aliens in America: A high school student who befriends a Pakistani Muslim exchange student. Hilarity ensues, one would presume...because there's nothing funnier than Muslims, right? Oh, and the best part? The Rules for Starting Over: The Farrelly Brothers. On TV. Just...*sigh* Tuesday, May 8. 2007So what do you think will happen?
So at the end of last night's Heroes in the preview for next week it asked "What do you think will happen?" It got me thinking. I'm wondering what everyone thinks will happen.
Now I don't know if it's just because I like the occasional tragic end (I still think Harry should die at then end of book 7 later this year), or what but I'm of the belief the New York still gets nuked, though I don't think it's Peter who does it. What do you think? Sunday, May 6. 2007Most of you don't care
but it appears as if there are only two episodes of Gilmore Girls left. This makes me the sad.
Friday, January 26. 2007Yeah I watch it. So what?!
I need help from the D&D crew. I have been watching a certain tv series that AoD reccomended to me. I have been enjoying it (though in fairness I roll my eyes a lot). Alright, I'll admit it: I am watching Gilmore Girls, and I like it.
Shut up! Anyway, I need one of you to remind Joey to bring it up to D&D next week. Then give it to Mad Giggler and then he can bring it to me on Thursday when I get back to work. If one or all of you can remind AoD I would be very greatful. Thanks Tuesday, October 24. 2006I gotta say....
...Just as the last couple episodes of Heroes, had started to make me think that it couldn't pull off what the first two episodes set up (Well except for the ending on the train last week), along came last night's episode, which just knocked it out of the park IMO.
It's good to know that when Studio 60 gets cancelled in a couple weeks at least there will still be two good shows on (V. Mars, and Heroes). Tuesday, October 10. 2006Just an FYI
Heroes will be around for a full season as it became the first new show to officially get a full season order.
Tuesday, September 26. 2006I may never go to FHE again
Holy crap they have managed to do it again. I sat down last night to relax from another hectic day of work and stress. I was all prepared to sit and vegetate the night away. That didn't happen.
Instead of having a peaceful evening of respite and inactivity, I found myself amped and jittery. You see a new show premiered on NBC last night; Heroes. I will not in any way spoil the plot, but suffice it to say, it looks to me like it is going to be much better than the last two Xmen movies were. Great writing, good acting, and several fantastic stories all waiting to join together in one powerful, unstoppable saga. No longer will I only have Studio 60. Heroes has captured my imagination. If you somehow missed it, you can catch it on their NBC page, by following the link above. Totally check it out. By way of follow up Studio 60 also kicked total butt last night with another brilliant story. Tuesday, September 19. 2006My wonderful evening
So Joey and I have been quite bummed out since we finished watching The West Wing. It was a brilliantly written and acted tv series. While Joey and I never fully agreed with all of the politics we grew to love the characters and plot lines. (And though Joey refuses to admit it publicly, he considers Martin Sheen "his President")
To be fair The West Wing started to go down-hill when the shows creator, writer, and producer, Aaron Sorkin, stopped participating with the show. However my doldrums have ceased! Aaron Sorkin, and his co-executive producer Thomas Schlamee (also from The West Wing), are back! Last night I watched the premier of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Finally there is a smart, funny, witty, well acted show (besides My Name is Earl, and The Office) back on tv. I highly encourage all of you to watch it. |
