Wren on :
I wanna do the next one.
Thursday, May 15. 2008D&D Write-up #1: 5/13/08
So, uh, we do this to keep everybody up to speed on what happened last week, what's happening next week, etc. I asked MG if I could do this week's session, and I did it as a journal entry. The speaker here is my character, Lissah.
Sixthday of Flamerule 1372 DR (Year of Wild Magic) One thing I will never get used to here is the rain. The cold is fine - I grew up listening to the wind blow in off the steppes - but mix that with water and everything turns sour. My hands are chilled, my hair is fuzzy, and I can't keep my feet dry. Of course, it doesn't help that Taliend keeps telling me to "put on some sensible shoes." What does he think I do for a living, plant corn? I need my ankles bare for my bells, or there's no food on the table that night. It's Flamerule, for Sharess' sake! Surely there should be a few tendays strung together here where the sun shines without a break. But, as my mother used to say, there's no use mourning stars that have already fallen, so I suppose I should be grateful when the sun stays out for a few days in a row, as it has now. And that's what I was thinking, squinting up into the sky and trying to concentrate on the wedding vows, when the screaming started. I whipped around to see a gang of runty goblins attacking people at the rear of the crowd. Luckily there were some guards handy, or they would have made a short slaughter of the defenseless wedding guests. Suddenly, I saw a dark haired half-elf dressed in traveling gear run through the crowd, pulling her bow out. She had great reaction time, I admit, but watching her pull out her enormous, scary-looking bow I think the crowd realized that this was serious business. Panic hit, and people started screaming and running everywhere. I dove out of the way, watching the half-elf effortlessly sling arrows into the goblins. But she wasn't alone &em; with a berserker roar, a red-haired human dove into the fight, and the two of them made short work of several goblins.
I heard a scream and turned to see that there were kobolds on the other side of me, attacking the bride and groom! They quickly tied the bride up and began to drag her toward a shimmering portal, while keeping her whimpering fiance at bay. It was at that point that I decided I should probably contribute in some way. I drew a breath and sang out my mother's Celestial battle song, which made the half-elf and human seem to take courage and fight harder. Things got kind of fuzzy at that point - there were people screaming, swinging swords, and running all over the place. In fact, the only person who wasn't moving much was a dark-skinned, scrawny half-drow, who just kind of watched everything and kept out of the way. I couldn't for the life of me imagine who invited him to the wedding in the first place - neither the bride nor groom were known for their friendship with those demons. Nevertheless, there he was, not fleeing like all the other wedding guests. He even helped a little bit. Interesting. After quite a bit of fighting, the four of us and some brave, red-shirted guards managed to fight off the goblins and kill most of the kobolds, although their portal closed so nobody could chase after them. As the kobolds fled, a strange cloaked figure hurled a lightning bolt at them, but I was too far away to get a good look at him. I sprinted across the field and managed to keep the human and half-elf from killing the last kobold - I have never questioned a kobold before, but how hard can it be? If I can keep that over-zealous human from hacking him to pieces, I'm hoping to get some useful information out of him. Trackbacks

Daboo on :
Sure, maybe we should all take turns.
Radar on :
Well that's one view of history. I liked the summation, but I did not actually kill (much to my dismay) any goblins. I did however manage to kill a few kobolds and rescue the bride from the portal. I had better get paid extra for that. (hint hint, Mr. DM)
Daboo on :
Oh. Well, I was kind of scrambling to figure out my bard spells at that point, so I missed who was attacking what. Sorry. :(
Sideshow on :
Thanks for the Write-up. Helps keep some of us involved.

Everyone send me your character sheets, or the key components thereof. I have some ideas that I want to try out that will make it easier to connect these posts to the characters.
