What can you say about the Wrath of Kahn that hasn't been said so many times by other people? Probably nothing, but I think we found a few new things anyway. This is a much better ST movie than The Motion Picture, and Joey was not pissed at me this time. My Friend Jon Madsen came along to lend a proper TOS point of view, so our special thanks to him, and Aaron, who also joined us to share his demented view of life. As with any movie there are inconsistencies, but by and large this really is a good movie.

We're excited to welcome, what we are pretty sure is, our 10th guest to the podcast: Laura. She was a delight and put up with an astonishing amount of crazy packed into a period of about three hours. As a public service to our invited guests, perhaps we should commit to never again invite someone on the podcast without exposing them to some of Joey's "highlights" first. 1 year in and 50 podcasts done. While we did nothing to celebrate this momentous occasion, it is worth noting that we did accomplish it. Aaron came back on this weeks podcast to help us get through the episodes we didn't get around to discussing last week. The conversations got heated a couple of times, but all in all things went quite well. And so that there is no confusion whatsoever, TW5 is extremely grateful to all the men and women who serve in law enforcement. This podcast covers the episodes 2-4 of The West Wing, Season 1.

We begin our new podcast season with The West Wing. It is a good first start and introduction of the series as well as the start to what is sure to be our most political filled season of Trek West 5. Joining us for this inaugural podcast is Aaron. Sadly Joey and I discuss Snuff films and manage to get it wrong when one reads this article from Wikipedia. I really hope we never talk about it again. What an incredible warp speed ride it has been through our first tv series podcast. We can't even begin to believe how well things have turned out, including the fact that people other than ourselves actually want to listen to what we have to say. Many thanks to all those who sent in comments, came on the show as guests, or who listened to us each week. Coming to you from the secret bunker, we bring you our final discussion of Star Trek the Next Generation season 7. Note to future self: don't try to record a podcast the week of Christmas, especially if it is a season ending podcast. Joey and I were able to get it done, but it took a lot out of us. Joey & I wanted to do something special for Christmas, a tradition we hope to continue for as long as we do this podcast. So he decided that for our inaugural year we would watch A Christmas Carol as presented by TNT in 1999. We assumed that since it had Patrick Stewart playing the title role of Ebeneezer Scrooge that it was sure to be something special. Boy were we wrong about that. It was hammy, disjointed, and frankly 1 piston short of a 4 stroke engine. Well I guess it wasn't completely terrible because there were a few good scenes and it did prompt some good discussion between Joey and I. But for the most part you all can skip watching it.
On a side note, we want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. We hope that regardless of whatever religion you believe in that this time of year is happy and joyous. Thanks for listening. Well the good news is that we won't be seeing Ensign Ro Larin in any more episodes of TNG. It's just sad that we had to wait until almost the end of the series before it happened. Listener Jim joins us for the second time and does a great job at helping us to find something worthwhile to talk about for these rather lackluster episodes. Amide a tide of fairly lame episodes we send a fond farewell to Wesley Crusher in this weeks Star Trek the Next Generation Trek West 5 podcast. He provided several opportunities for us to mock him. All the way from "we're from starfleet; we don't lie" to "Maybe I am sick of following rules and regulations!" And as much as I liked to make fun of Wesley, he was an important part of this series. There isn't enough soap in the world for me to ever feel clean again after having to watch the episode Sub Rosa. I wish I had the time and inclination to write an incredibly long and tedious blog post to go along with this podcast of Star Trek The Motion Picture, but I just don't have the heart to do that too you guys. As much as I really enjoy watching this movie, it is quite boring in a few places. Alright, a lot of parts were boring. But it is such a visually cool sci-fi flick I just have to love it. Plus who wouldn't want to see DeForest Kelly showing his hairy chest and sporting the gold chains?! Aside from all that Joey and I still managed to have a good time discussing.

Well, Peter has once again abandoned his own mantra ("The Podcast First and Always") and has left the duty of posting this week's podcast to me. I'm sure he's going to find SOMETHING to complain about regarding my method of doing it, so I'll just say up front: it's your own dang fault, man - YOU'RE the one who left this task in my hands. Our wrap up of season 6 from the secret bunker studio yielded quite a bit of fun. We got to discuss some anger issues with Joey and Data (I think I am going to start bringing a bodyguard with me to podcast recordings, just for protection against... certain people. I think Aaron might do nicely as a human shield). And we got to discuss the really good and bad stuff from season 6. This podcast covers episodes 25-26 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 6.
