Friday, July 17. 2009The Top Ten Promises I Keep Making to Myself.
I wrote this for work and thought I'd post it here, as some of you might appreciate it.
10. Learn more about shark breeds. 9. Research medieval texts about alchemy. 8. Become fluent in Chinese. 7. Go back to my chemistry text books and explore the formulae for Composition 4 and trinitrotoluene. 6. Adopt a white Persian cat. 5. Study the development of lasers. 4. Tour Fort Knox. 3. Build a robot for helping with small chores. 2. Cultivate connections with suppliers throughout Eastern Europe that have depots along the way to Moscow. 1. We have informal get-togethers once a month and sometimes do fun things like everyone brings a top ten list to a randomly assigned subject.

I was concerned until I got to #1 and realized these are all entirely IDLE THREATS.

Haha. When I read it aloud this morning to the group, I think everyone there just thought I had a really random list of things I wanted to accomplish until I got to #1. Certainly they all laughed in that, "I have no idea what he's talking about" way when I said the word "trinitrotoluene."
