Union Ship Valiant
First Officer's Log We arrived at the New Earth border just in time to detect, at the very edge of sensor range, the destruction of the Seaward. A New Earth ship (designated 60103682) commanded by the New Earth Interior Minister had attacked and captured its crew and the briefcase containing the documentation against Chancellor Alexander. We were hailed by the Interior Minister, and he had a long conversation with Ambassador Katie; the end result being that he declared the New Earth border closed to Union ships, and threatened to fire on us if we attempted to continue our mission to rescue the Embassy staff.
I instructed the Weapons officer to fire on him if he came within range of our weapons, but the coward fled back to New Earth. Shortly after he turned tail, the Long Range Communications Officer informed me that we had recieved a communique from the Embassy on New Earth: the Secret Police had begun an open attack on the Embassy, and they were in desperate need of help. As we prepared to enter New Earth space and potientially set off a new war, we finally managed to make contact with the Protectorate ships we had been sent to meet in the first place. The Commander of the ship was dismayed to hear the news that the evidence was now in the possession of the Interior Minister, but he gave us new hope: upon hearing that New Earth troops had begun an illegal invasion of Union soil, he transmitted to us critical information about the deployment of protective satellites around New Earth itself. The Commander took another great risk and informed us that he would be "leaving the area", hinting that we would have a small window of opportunity to get to New Earth and evacuate our people; but that he would be nearby, and that if we found an opportunity to obtain the documents, we should contact him, and he would then be able to assist us. Regardless of how many lives they took in the last war, no one can say the Protectorate are dishonorable. Trackbacks
